Su Ovelius [Su SANO] is an aspiring experience designer, entrepreneur, curator and independent cultural organizer, coach and facilitator. For the New Frame Su is exploring experience design tools as facilitation tools aimed at exploring our living places and public space. Later aimed at being combined with art methodology and facilitation tools to deepen participatory experiences and understanding for a place. Asking themselves can art and design transform?

The meaning of placemaking became visible to Su when working with a film and workplace organizing festival. Seeing how grassroots organizers from diverse parts of the globe, working with similar structural issues and narratives in society, enjoyed coming together and not feeling alone in their attempts to make change. Within the arts Su found a more inclusive way of working with imagination of presents and futures. Here Su found the value of imagination. That if we don’t know what we wish to imagine, we might loose hope. If we don’t know how to ask questions, we might loose hope. In coaching and facilitation Su found how powerful questions can, if not transform immediately, start a journey with transformative power. In experience design Su found tools that can enhance the experience of presents and futures, making our experiences and values, and existing values of a place, more visible and possible to relate to and work with.

In the larger picture Su is searching to enhance deeper customer and participatory experiences including experience design tools, art methodology and/or facilitation tools in a diversity of situations. For customer experience within their business, for exploring workplace needs, for art projects connected to space, place and self-organization, for grassroots placemaking within a community or urban/suburban living area.
